Ferenc Halmos ceramic artist was born in Pecs Hungary in 1956 He has been creating ceramics since 1977. He acquired an engineering qualification at the Veszprem University of Chemistry. He worked as a teacher of ceramic technology for three years at the College of Applied Arts. The Halmos products are shown in European ceramic art exhibitions since 1993. Three of the Halmos porcelain vases can be found in the ceramic art collection of the Janus Pannonius Museum in Pecs Hungary.
After more than a decade of testing and firing thousands of pieces with no success, finally he found the way to produce beautiful ceramic pieces with the mysterious eosin glaze. It is a very complicated manufacturing process which been researched by European manufacturers from the middle of the 19th century. None of the factories had real success with this metal-based reduced glaze except Zsolnay. The eosin became a world famous unique product of the Zsolnay factory. It is still the only place in the world where products are made in large volume with the magnificent eosin glaze.
Please note that the artist or his products are not affiliated in any way with the Zsolnay porcelain factory.
